JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA March 2, 2026 – The Immigration Depot Pekan Nenas successfully repatriated 245 foreign detainees of various nationalities to their home countries during the final week of February 2026, the Johor Immigration Department announced today.
The operation involved 82 Myanmar nationals, 68 Indonesians, 35 Bangladeshis, 26 Pakistanis, 23 Indians, two Nigerians, two Vietnamese, two Thais, and one national each from Nepal, Syria, the Philippines, Cambodia, and Congo.
All detainees were flown out via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA 1 and KLIA 2) or departed through the Stulang Laut Ferry Terminal. Each individual possessed a valid passport, while some received Emergency Travel Documents (ETD) issued by their respective embassies to facilitate the return.
The cost of repatriation tickets was fully covered by the detainees’ personal savings, family contributions, or, in specific cases, by the embassies concerned. No service charges were imposed for any administrative assistance provided at the depot.
Upon repatriation, all 245 individuals have been placed on the department’s blacklist and are barred from re-entering Malaysia for a stipulated period.
The Johor Immigration Department emphasised that the continuous repatriation of detainees who have completed their sentences is a core activity at Depot Imigresen Pekan Nenas to prevent overcrowding and ensure no backlog remains in the country.
Members of the public requiring assistance with ticket purchases or repatriation procedures may visit the service counter at Depot Imigresen Pekan Nenas. For enquiries, contact the Records and Repatriation Unit at 07-6993540 or use the online inquiry system at https://eapp.imi.gov.my/tanya/create.
The department reiterated that the operation forms part of its ongoing efforts to uphold immigration laws and maintain the efficiency of detention facilities across Johor.
